At least 4 killed, 11 injured in overnight shootings across Chicago, police say

CHICAGO — At least 15 people were shot overnight across Chicago, and at least 4 people died from their wounds, police say.
Between about 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday, there were at least 10 shootings in several West and South Side neighborhoods, according to police. No one is in custody, police say.
Police responded to a mass shooting in South Chicago about 5 a.m. Saturday. Officers found four people shot in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue. A 20-year-old was transported to University of Chicago Hospital and pronounced dead. A 22-year-old, also transported to UChicago Hospital, had a gunshot wound on her arm and was listed in good condition. Two more men, 38 and 35, were both shot in the abdomen, transported to UChicago Hospital and listed in serious condition.
Police reported at least three other shooting homicides throughout the night.
At about 10 p.m. Friday, a 22-year-old man was standing outside in the 2800 block of West Arthington Street when he was shot by a man on foot. The victim suffered a wound in his torso and was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Demarion Ligon.
Officers responded to a shooting call in the 7500 block of South St. Lawrence Street right before 1 a.m. They found a 37-year-old woman who was shot multiple times in the abdomen, and she was pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Kandra Hillard of Grand Crossing. Police also found an unidentified man with a gunshot wound on his knee. He was taken to UChicago Hospital and listed in fair condition.
At about 2 a.m., police responded to a person shot in the 300 block of West 64th Street. The 30-year-old had a gunshot wound on his back, and was transported to UChicago Hospital and listed in critical condition.
Officers also responded to a 17-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds on his body who was dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital and pronounced dead. Police were unaware of when or where he was shot.
Detectives are investigating.
