No, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not going to apologize: report
Published in News & Features
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are not even remotely planning to apologize to Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, contrary to rumors that have swirled since the couple moved back to the U.K. last month, according to a new report.
A London tabloid’s assertion that a public apology from the Sussexes to the Prince and Princess was imminent is “nonsense,” a source told People. That was especially true given what Harry and Meghan were supposedly going to apologize for: Their contention in a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that the palace was concerned about what color skin their new baby would have while Markle was expecting her first baby, Archie, now 7.
The couple announced in 2020 that they would step back from official royal duties, after which they decamped to California, where they remained for six years until this past August, when they returned to the U.K. to help their kids grow up British and put them in school, they said.
In addition to their Winfrey interview, the couple publicly dove into royal family dynamics in a six-part Netflix docuseries in 2022 and 2023, followed by Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare,” published the same year.
Before moving back, the family of four met with King Charles III in July, so he could see his grandchildren, the first visit that included Markle and the kids in four years. The Sussexes did not mention their plans but announced their planned return less than a month later.
Harry has indicated he wants to reconcile with his family and has been in contact with his father since returning, but he and William are still solidly estranged.
