DETROIT — A bomb threat at a Downriver polling place on Election Day is under investigation, police said.

Authorities evacuated the building, at Carlson High School in Gibraltar, according to a social media post by the Brownstown Township Police Department, which is aiding in the investigation.

The location serves as the polling location for Precincts 8 and 11 in Brownstown Township, authorities said.

Township officials said voting has been temporarily moved outside of the building while police sweep the structure.

"We take all threats seriously. The safety of voters, election workers, and the integrity of the democratic process are of the utmost importance," Brownstown police said on Facebook. "Additional information will be shared as it becomes available."
