NEW YORK — The Met Gala, fashion’s biggest night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is known for pulling A-list celebrities, iconic athletes and fashion's biggest houses — but this year there have also been several NYC politicians showing off their “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” looks on the carpet.

Here’s some of the NYC’s political figures who walked the Met Gala red carpet.

Adrienne Adams

Adrienne Adams, the current Speaker of the New York City Council and mayoral hopeful is on the list of politicians invited this year.

This isn’t the first time Adams has attended fashion’s biggest night; she also attended last year wearing a long, pink gown designed by Edwing D’Angelo.

Adams is the first-ever African American to lead the City Council and would be the city’s first female mayor if she wins.

Brad Lander and Rosa Lander

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander attended the 2025 Met Gala wearing a tailored black suit while his daughter Rosa Lander wore a navy blue suit.

Lander is a progressive Democrat from Brooklyn.

Gale Brewer

Gale Brewer, who represents the 6th Council District on New York’s City Council since 2022, walked the carpet wearing a purple gown paired with a heart decorated, see-through jacket.

Other political figures who have attended the annual event include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in 2021; New York City Mayor Eric Adams in 2022, Carlina Rivera in 2024 and Hillary Clinton in 2022.
