The ex-wife of James Van Der Beek is paying homage to the “Dawson’s Creek” star following the actor’s death on Wednesday at age 48.

Actress Heather McComb went public on social media to share that she’ll always keep her ex-husband in her heart.

The former couple reportedly met through McComb’s sister, who guest-starred on “Dawson’s Creek” in 1998. They were married from 2003 until they amicably split in 2009.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, McComb detailed her heartbreak over the loss of “beloved James.”

“This is how I will always see James: innocent, kind and pure of heart,” she captioned a photo of the pair holding each other close, which she said was taken on her 21st birthday. “What a journey we shared over the years. I sit here in immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades.”

The “Profiler” and “Ray Donovan” actress revealed that she and Van Der Beek shared “last loving words,” adding that she’ll always remember him as “a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humor, depth, sensitivity, knowledge and a deep love of God that shined through him.”

She also expressed her heartache for James’ wife, Kimberly, to whom he was married since 2010, and their six children, ages 4 to 15.

“I know that James loved being a father so much and oh how he loved Kimberly with his everything,” McComb wrote. “True soulmates. How she showed up for him with such grace is so beautiful and something I will forever admire.”

McComb concluded her tribute by calling Van Der Beek a “sweet soul” and a “blessing to all that knew him,” asking fans to support his family “during this difficult season” by donating to a GoFundMe set up in their honor.

As of Friday morning, the fundraiser had brought in more than $2.1 million to “help cover essential living expenses, pay bills and support the children’s education,” after the cost of Van Der Beek’s medical treatment for cancer “left the family out of funds.”
