Despite a fake news report to the contrary, Rosie O’Donnell insists she’s not plotting an “epic comeback” to the U.S. to compete on “Dancing with the Stars” a little more than a year after she moved to Ireland.

The 64-year-old comedian reposted the false story claiming otherwise on Instagram Monday. That “breaking news” rumor included a presumably Photoshopped or AI-generated image of O’Donnell in a shiny green dress with a new hairdo. It declared “She returns to the U.S. in an epic comeback!”

O’Donnell expressed appreciation for the work that went into the tabloid cover, while shooting down the headline’s claim.

“This made me laugh —reminds me to never get a perm!!!” O’Donnell wrote. “Completely untrue but funny.”

The “A League of Their Own” star relocated to Ireland in January 2025 after President Donald Trump took office to begin his second term in the White House. The pair have famously bickered over the past 20 years. People magazine says their feud dates back to 2006 when O’Donnell, while hosting ABC’s “The View,” expressed a distaste for Trump, who was then a reality TV personality.

Trump famously insulted O’Donnell during a 2015 presidential debate by likening her to “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.”

Their rivalry became an international affair when Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin visited the White House in March 2025. Trump and a MAGA media member asked Martin why Ireland allowed O’Donnell to move to the Ireland. The prime minister didn’t appear to understand their line of questioning.

O’Donnell said in February that she’d recently made a brief return to New York to visit family and has no regrets about living in Ireland.
