Macklemore announces his 'Free Palestine' tour dates sold out

Rapper Macklemore is thrilled that the “Free Palestine” tour he launched after being booted from Ed Sheeran’s lineup has sold out its upcoming shows overseas.
“I’m honestly blown away. We put these shows together fast and in community, believing that musicians can stand in solidarity with Palestine, use the stage to raise funds and show what collective action can look like,” the 43-year-old musician from Seattle posted on Instagram.
Macklemore was removed as one of the opening acts for pop star Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour after saying “Free Palestine” during a Sept. 4 performance in New Jersey. He said that Sheeran informed him that he was being dropped after owners of stadiums hosting the tour took issues with his politics. The other bands on the tour quit in solidarity with the “Thrift Shop” rapper.
That reaction prompted Sheeran to offer fans a tearful apology during a subsequent show in Philadelphia, where the headlines denounced violence against Palestinians in Gaza as well as the terror attack on Israel that preceded its invasion of the territory.
Macklemore announced his “Free Palestine” tour last week. Tickets are no longer available for its October shows in Paris, London and Dublin.
“When those in power try to silence our calls for liberation, art will always be a form of resistance,” he posted on Wednesday.
Macklemore added that the rapid ticket sales in Europe show there’s worldwide support for Palestinians. He plans to soon announce the acts who will be joining him on tour.
“Can’t wait to be together,” he wrote alongside a graphic of a Palestinian flag.
