The cast of Friends declined to appear in Netflix's upcoming docuseries about the late Matthew Perry.
The One About Matthew Perry will hit screens on 27 October, and while the three-part series will see the 17 Again star's sister Mia Perry Bowick speak for the first time about her late brother - who tragically died aged 54 in October 2023 from the acute effects of ketamine - his former co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer reportedly turned down a request to be involved.
A source told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "They were reached out to and decided not to participate.
"Ultimately, the series gives a voice to other friends and colleagues in his life who have memory and love from Matthew."
Jennifer, 57, in particular is said to have struggled with the idea of expressing her grief in public.
A second source said: "There's no way Jen would ever do something like that. She isn't going to sit down and start crying on camera. She doesn't want to relive it and have it be so public."
Mia previously explained why she has decided to speak out for the first time in The One About Matthew Perry.
She told Tudum: "It's taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life - to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction.
"As his sister, he shaped who I am today, the person I strive to be, and the work to which I've devoted my life.
"Matthew had a beautiful heart and a generous spirit, and even in his darkest moments, he could still make you laugh and feel loved.
"I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was, and the legacy he leaves behind."
The documentary is directed by Mary Robertson and promises to take a deep dive into Matthew's life.
Filmmaker Mary hailed the late Friends icon as "one of the comedic geniuses of our time".
She added: "Through his many films, TV, and stage performances, and his unforgettable portrayal of Chandler Bing, he made millions of us laugh, connect, and feel a little less alone.
"He also gave us so much more by bravely speaking about addiction. Yet the public only knew part of his story.
"That's why we set out to make this series: to let the people who knew and loved Matthew reveal the person behind the public figure."
