Another Met Gala filled with celebrities and interesting fashion, but does marijuana help make the evening fun?

The 2025 Met Gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrates Black menswear and dandyism, drawing a star-studded guest list that includes several celebrities known to be fans or advocates of cannabis culture. When originally created in 1948, the event was a major fundraising event for the Met’s Costume Institute. Organized by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert and others, it initially aimed to raise funds for the Costume Institute and mark the opening of its annual fashion exhibit. It started as a midnight supper club and involved into a traditional gala where the leaders of New York society and titans of national industry publicly supported the institution. Under the leader of Vogue fashion domonitrix Anna Wintour, it has become more of a celebrity stunt for the museum and for fashion. The pressure of the evening can be intense, but luckily, cannabis is a favorite of the Met Gala guests. While the Met forbids cannabis, every you the room is packed with fans. Among the co-chairs, rapper A$AP Rocky is a well-known cannabis enthusiast. He has openly discussed his use and appreciation of cannabis in interviews and through his music, often incorporating it into his artistic persona. His presence at the Met Gala continues his tradition of blending fashion, music, and cannabis culture. Pharrell Williams, another co-chair and creative director for Louis Vuitton Men’s 2025 collection, has also been associated with cannabis culture. Pharrell has spoken about cannabis in various contexts, including its influence on creativity and relaxation. While more discreet than some peers, his openness about cannabis aligns with his artistic and cultural influence. Among the host committee, musician Usher is another figure linked to cannabis. Usher has been reported to have a relaxed attitude towards cannabis use, reflecting its growing acceptance in the entertainment industry.

Additionally, rapper Doechii, part of the host committee and a Grammy winner, represents a younger generation of artists who often embrace cannabis culture as part of their lifestyle and creative expression

While the Met Gala’s guest list is tightly curated by Vogue’s Anna Wintour and not all attendees’ personal habits are public, these figures stand out for their known affinity or openness regarding cannabis. Their participation at the 2025 Met Gala highlights the intersection of fashion, music, and evolving cultural attitudes toward cannabis.

And while Wintour has not publicly stated she uses cannabis herself, there is a widely circulated 73 Questions with Anna Wintour video. She she mentions “cooking with marijuana”. She presents in a humorous and casual tone which says she may be more fun than expected.
