'Dangerous' heat possible this weekend, next week around Kansas City, forecast says

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Isolated storms are possible across the region Friday ahead of the climbing temperatures and humidity that are expected to set in over the weekend, the National Weather Service said in its forecast discussion.
A strong storm or two is possible Friday, mainly across northern Missouri, the weather service said.
High temperatures on Friday were forecast in the mid-to-upper 80s, but heat indices, or “feels like” temperatures, will be 5-10 degrees warmer with the “very sultry” conditions, the forecast said.
The weather service said there was increasing confidence of dangerous heat along the Interstate 70 corridor and south this weekend and into next week. Forecasting places maximum heat index temperatures above 100 degrees throughout the region over the weekend.
“Overnight lows warmer than the mid 70s can make overnight recovery (body temperature) more difficult, exacerbating subsequent/prolonged periods of hot/excessive temperatures,” the weather service said.
Extended forecasting has suggested potentially dangerous heat region-wide next week.
