Deleted X posts and sarcasm from Elon Musk, largest donor of Republican-aligned causes

Following a wave of GOP losses in the midterm elections on Tuesday, Elon Musk reportedly removed an X post that urged voters to cast their ballots in favor of Republicans the day before.
Musk posted, “Vote red today!” on Tuesday but by Wednesday morning, it was gone, Business Insider reported.
On Tuesday night after the polls had closed, with preliminary results projecting Democrats flipping the House and securing control of Congress, Musk made a snarky post on X.
“Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time,” the post said. That post remains up as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Times reached out to Musk for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
The trillionaire spent more then $400 million in the midterm elections for Republican-leaning causes and candidates, according to campaign finance filings.
Musk largely stayed out of the political scene during the midterm election and instead silently increased his spending in the second half of the cycle.
His focal point was the Texas Senate race, and steering money into the America PAC which Musk launched during the 2024 elections that supported President Trump.
A Democrat won the Texas Senate seat Tuesday, according to preliminary results.
